French-born UK writer, often in Florida. A prolific author of boys' fiction from about 1902, he wrote some sf tales for the oldest segment of his audience. Of greatest interest are Martin Crusoe: A Boy's Adventure on Wizard Island (1920), which takes young Martin Vaile to the eponymous island, a relic of ATLANTIS, and The Death Star (1940), a rather grim tale set on a depopulated Earth.
