- (1898-1983)US writer who began publishing sf in 1952 with the novella "The Shining City" for Science Fiction Quarterly, and with her first novel, The Red Court: Last Seat of National Government of the United States of America (1952). She subsequently restricted herself to novels,like Beyond the Sealed World (1965), based on the 1952 novella, and Taurus Four (1970), which combines SATIRE with SPACE OPERA in a story containinghippies lost on another planet, a sociologist and an alien INVASION.
