REED, Jeremy
(1951-)
   UK poet and writer, much of whose fiction comprises a set of loosely-linked tales about19th century decadents; those with fantasy elements include Isidore: ANovel About the Comte de Lautreamont (1991) and When the Whip Comes Down: A Novel about de Sade(1992), in which de Sadetimeslips through the centuries. JR's sf novel,Diamond Nebula (1994), is set in the 23rd century, and describesits protagonist's obsessions with decadents of the 20th century, including J.G. BALLARD.
