MacPHERSON, Donald

MacPHERSON, Donald
(? -)
Canadian author, perhaps a pseudonym of George MacTavish. Go Home, Unicorn (1935 UK) is a SCIENTIFIC ROMANCE set in Montreal, in which the life of a research scientist - loved by two women, one jealous - is much confused by projections, into the world of matter, of their (and other people's) mental fantasies, brought into being by the X-ray field he is using to create mutations in guinea-pigs; there is much scientific speculation, rather far-fetched, about the nature of the mind/matter division. The sequel, Men are Like Animals (1937 UK), likewise features research scientist Reggie Brooks, and involves a device that controls thoughts.
