- (1895-1941)Scottish writer who began his career as author with a series of thrillers as Neil Gordon; one of these, The Professor's Poison (1928), was sf. From 1933, AGM wrote under his own name. In Lords and Masters (1936) an industrial struggle between traditional steel manufacturers andthe developers of a new metal escalates into a full-blown war involving the whole of Europe; by novel's end, a Patriotic Government is ruling the UK.JC
