MICHAELS, Melisa C.

MICHAELS, Melisa C.
(? -)
US writer who remains best known for her Skyrider sequence of sf adventures - Skirmish (1985), First Battle (1985), Last War (1986), Pirate Prince (1987) and Floater Factor (1987) - depicting the growth intomaturity of its eponymous female starship-pilot protagonist. The tales are at times congested, often parodic, occasionally damaged by cliche, but carry their underlying message about human potential with some grace. Far Harbor (1989) depicts with sympathy the plight of a planet whose nativesare being attacked by humans.
