LURGAN, Lester

LURGAN, Lester:    Pseudonym of UK writer Mabel Winfred Knowles (1875-1949), author of various popular novels including The League of the Triangle (1911). LL's sf novel, A Message from Mars * (1912), based on an 1899 play by Richard Ganthony, may have been used as well as the play in creating the filmversion, A MESSAGE FROM MARS (1913). The story deals with the effects on humans of the arrival of a messenger from MARS with words of good sense about our earthly dilemmas.
